A little church at an Oprah party →
I love that it was an unplanned and organic response from celebrities. I love that it’s a song that was obviously familiar language to them. Most of all I love that they were declaring and naming what God has meant to them or done in their lives:) Take a watch…what do you think?

Leadership Lessons from Pirate Ships & Wrist Bands...
We are on the home stretch of one of our largest summer events here at Bayside, our Breakaway kids camps! This summer we offered 5 sessions of camp, 3 of Breakaway (our version of VBS) and 2 of Breakaway games (half day of sports and other activities). I’ve been leading the team that produces that rallies that happen everyday. It’s a full on good time with dancers, singers, dramas, hosts, and...

Full Circle
When Ben and I were younger, there was a Saturday when we got up early and stood in lines to get tickets to see U2. Then we saw them and it was amazing. This only fueled my love of live shows and set the bar high for the level of production and musicianship that I want to see on a stage. In the years since then I have been to many shows with my brother and I’ve also watched him develop into...

A little goes a long way
“Hospitality exists when you believe the other person is on your side. The converse is just as true. Hospitality is present when something happens for you. It is absent when something happens to you. Those two simple prepositions - for and to - express it all.” Danny Meyer in Setting the Table
This past weekend we launched our communication to our congregation about Easter this year....

Keeping it together
This has been a crazy spring and my team has been cruising on a relatively large project. I’ve realized that I owe any bit of sanity / productivity to a few of my go to resources. What keeps you going?
1) Things - task management for macs
I have this on my phone, ipad, and laptop. I love it because I can put any to-do task or reminder in there and then review the list at the end of the...

Both And...
In an email conversation with a friend this morning I asked her to pray for me about something specific…she responded with “Thanks for asking me to pray”. Caught me off guard for a sec and I realized that I don’t often get thanked for asking people to pray for me or for something. I usually assume that it’s a burden and I don’t ask. So I think I will start...

March Madness...I'm addicted
March is a weird month, mainly because for some reason I turn into a basketball fan. I never watch basketball at any other time of the year but once march madness starts and the brackets come out, I’m hooked! In the midst of a crazy weekend I did find time to watch most of the games. In fact I wrestled the remote long enough yesterday to watch the entire Illinois vs. Kansas game, and by the...
How do you like them apples?
It’s been one of those weeks, a week with no margins. This is the only explanation that I have for a little treasure that I found today in my computer bag. I reached in to find that an apple had completely rotted and was now a layer of “apple sauce” on the bottom of my bag. And yes, I did throw up in my mouth a little bit.
Ugh, how long had that been there? Am I really such a mess that I let...

Arizona Shootings
This news story has been on the front of my mind all day, really tragic and all for what? Praying for the families that are heartbroken tonight. I understand not agreeing with someone’s political views but their life is still sacred.

Advent
I’ve been thinking a lot about Advent this week. It’s one part of the church year the draws me in and makes me think about things that don’t come normal to me. Since it’s been on my mind I’ve seen traces of it and of the Christmas story all over my day to day life this week. There are real words that Advent focuses on (Peace, Joy, Hope, Love) but the point of these...
